My Keypad displays OC, is blank, or flashing between 2 numbers (00-31 or 17-00)

These symptoms indicate that the keypad is not receiving data from control panel. This FAQ will explain how to address a keypad and enable it in programming.

Topics:

·        Set or Read the keypad address

·        Select the correct address for the keypad

·        Verify that the address is enabled in programming.

·        Verify the wiring

Set or Read the keypad address

·         The keypad address is set by holding the 1 and 3 keys together immediately after powering up the keypad. The display will show you the existing address. You may now key in the correct address. Press * to save it.

·         The 6128RF and 6150RF have an internal program mode used to set their address. Refer to their installation instructions for more information.

·         If the system uses addressable keypads, each address must be enabled in the panel programming. The first keypad on these is always enabled and cannot be changed.

Verify that the address is enabled in programming.

Depending on the control panel that you have, you will enable the keypads differently:

Verify the wiring

·         Make sure that the keypads are connected to the proper terminals on the control panel.

·         Check voltage on the keypad data wires with reference to BLACK (negative):

Ø       RED should be 13.6VDC

Ø       YELLOW should be fluctuating11-13VDC

Ø       GREEN should be close to 0VDC (a few millivolts with some fluctuation)

·         The GREEN wire is most likely the problem based on the symptom described.

Isolate the keypad

Try connecting the keypad directly to the panel with all other keypad data wires removed and retest.
