Clearing System Low Battery

The Keypad displays [BAT] or System lo Bat when a low battery condition occurs on the System’s Backup battery

·         Enter the Test Mode by entering a Valid 4-digit code + [5] (test)

·         Exit the Test Mode by entering a Disarm Command; Valid 4-digit Code + [1] (off)

If System Low Battery Does not Clear

Check voltage of the battery, this should not be lower than 11.7VDC

• Check battery Under load:

Removing AC power from the panel.

The battery voltage should stay steady (above 11.7VDC) and the system should continue to operate.

• Check the Charging Voltage:

Reconnect AC power. Remove the battery and meter tabs coming from panel, this should read around 13VDC

• If charging voltage is low, check AC voltage on the panel, this should read around 19-20VAC for 8-zone commercial fire panels, 17-18VAC for all others.
• If you have NO charging voltage check the fuse. If fuse is bad replace it.

Keypad Shows BAT or Low Bat + Zone Number

If the keypad display’s BAT or Low Bat with a zone number this indicates you have a low battery on a wireless zone. 

·         If Bat or Low Bat + Zone 00 is showing, Replace the Battery in the wireless keypad (5827/BD) then turn the keypad on and disarm the system twice.

• If Bat or Low Bat + Zone 00 is showing and you do not have a wireless keypad, change the House ID in program location *24 because you may be reading a low battery condition from a nearby system using the same house ID.
• If Bat or Low Bat + Zone 10-63 is showing, Replace the Battery on the Zone number indicated, transmit a signal by tripping the device and disarm the system twice. 
• If the device is a 5806 or 5706 Smoke detector enter program mode remove both batteries and install the first battery smoothly, then install the second battery, exit program mode and test the smoke detector.  If the low battery comes back repeat this procedure.

General Information

·         Battery Threshold voltage is 11.7VDC

• The physical connection to the battery is checked once every 3-4 minutes
• A 10 minutes load test is conducted once every 4-6 hours depending on the revision of the panel.
