I am getting a check 107 or 108, why?   (ID:14169466)
The following will explain the causes and solutions for a Check 107 or 108 messages.

Watch out for:

·        The “Check 107” and “Check 108” refer to a problem with your zone expanders.

·        Check your wiring.

·        Verify the address settings.

·        Check your tamper.

·        Is the panel looking for an expander you don’t have?

The “Check 107” and “Check 108” refer to a problem with your zone expanders.

Check 1XX indicates a trouble on an expander with device address XX.

The proper expanders to use are the 4219 or 4229.

It could either be a tamper condition or a problem with the communication between the expanders and the panel. It is most likely a communication problem - a problem with the data lines. This could also cause the keypad to “lock up.”

Check your wiring.

Test voltages on the keypad data wires at the expander. You should have the following:

§         Black -> red = 13.5VDC

§         Black -> Yellow = 11-13 VDC (fluctuating)

§         Black -> Green = Close to 0 (a few millivolts)

Ř       The Yellow wire is data to the keypad and expanders. If you can see status of zones on the expander, this wire is probably OK.

Ř       The Green wire is data going back to the control panel. This is the most likely problem. It is also the most difficult to troubleshoot because it is normally almost 0VDC.

Ř       If voltages are OK, move a keypad and the expanders at the panel. Remove all other data wires.

Verify the address settings.

It is also important to note the addresses of all of your devices. The switches should be:

§         Address 07 – 2/3/4 OFF

§         Address 08 – 5 OFF

§         Address 09 – 2/5 OFF

§         Address 10 – 3/5 OFF

§         Address 11 – 2/3/5 OFF

§         Address 12 – 4/5 OFF

§         Address 13 – 2/4/5 OFF

Check your tamper.

Ř       If you are using the cover tamper, make sure that the magnet is installed and the cover is secure. You may want to temporarily disable the tamper until the problem is resolved.

Ř       If you do not want to use the cover tamper, disable it by placing the jumper on the two pins towards the center of the board (away from the edge). The jumper is located next to the first loop on the expander.

Is the panel looking for an expander you don’t have?

Remember: Address 07 = zones 9-16, address 08 = 17-24, and so forth.

The expander is enabled when you program a zone in these ranges as input of AW.

If you are getting a check 107 and you don’t have an expander, look at zones 9-16 to see if any are programmed as AW; and correct the programming.
